Black Joe Lewis & The Honeybears are just awesome.  They aren’t brand new, but they still fly under the radar a bit. They have a 60′s sound with horns and keyboards but the lyrics are much more modern.  Joe is a fantastic guitar player and worth the listen.  Trust us, you won’t want to turn it off.

The Carolina Chocolate Drops bring bluegrass back with vengeance.  These guys play the spoons, finger pick banjos and bring it all together with a touch of soul in the voice of Rhiannon Giddens.  The North Carolina band is old timey and just plain awesome.  Take a listen to the featured track and then check out the rest of their stuff.  Get ready for a ho-down!

The Shalants sound like you are in a daydream that keeps getting better.  They have a surfy sound that reminds me of Clark Griswald staring out the window to his non existant pool in Christmas Vacation.  The slide guitar and crooning voice makes this a stand out in the current music scene.  The big and different noise fits like an intricate puzzle with a beautiful ocean landscape painted on it.

Curtains For You have a retro feel to them.  They sound like they could be the love child of the Beach Boys and Simon and Grafunkel.  The harmonized voices and fantastic guitar riffs brings this band to the forefront of the second Seattle invasion.  The 5 piece band bring fantastic song writing and deep musical skill together to make an indie friendly album that will quickly grow on you.

Today we walk a bit on the psychedelic road with Prince Rama.  The Brooklyn trio blends big sounding drums with cross cultural voices that will take you on a beautiful trip without leaving the comfort of your earbuds.  We really can’t describe it, but we like it and that is all that matters.
